Emergency: Evacuation Plan
Preparing an Emergency Evacuation Plan (EEP)
Prepare your business/office Emergency Evacuation Plan –EEP – (you may use the template provided on this site or use your own). Your EEP must be communicated and approved by your Business Entity/Security. The EEP should include as a minimum
- Appointment of a Designated Emergency Coordinator (EC) and alternate EC
- Emergency Contact information.
- Preferred means of reporting fires and other emergencies
- Evacuation notification procedures
- Emergency escape procedures, escape route assignments and assembly areas
- Procedures to be followed by employees who remain to control critical operations before they evacuate
- Procedures to account for all employees after emergency evacuation has been completed
- Rescue and medical duties for those employees who perform them
- The alarm system.
Before an emergency, determine the nearest exit to your location, the safest route to follow, and alternate exits. Building emergency evacuation maps are posted in every floor and next to the elevators. Leave immediate area, but remain available to security/emergency personnel. If time permits during an evacuation, secure your workplace and take personal items such as keys, purse, medication, and glasses.
Evacuation of a Building
- Walk, do not run to the nearest exit stairway
- Do not use elevators
- Close all doors/windows behind you as you leave.
- On exiting proceed directly to the designated assembly area, and report to your office Emergency Coordinator who will take roll and account for all personnel in your business.
- Do not congregate in or block access roads or entrances to the building
- Report to the Security and EC any incident, injuries, hazards or unusual conditions noted while evacuating.
- When the “all clear” is announced, the Tenant Floor Wardens or Security Officers will lead all employees back to their work places in an orderly fashion. It will be the responsibility of all returning employees to assist in preventing overcrowding of the elevator cars.
- Take important personal possessions with you (purse, keys, eyeglasses, medication etc) while evacuating without wasting any time to locate them.
Evacuation from the Zone
In the event of a major hazardous situation and life-threatening emergency, which requires the Zone to be evacuated, emergency personnel and security will direct and advice accordingly.
Communication will be provided through this site and other media
